Boy abused, murdered in Sunder

LAHORE: A 15-year-old boy was assaulted and later murdered. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The victim was identified as Waseem Jahanzeb of Sundar Road.

The victim was kidnapped, raped and murdered by an accused. The body was thrown in a plot near an Imambargah, Burhanpura. Police reached the spot and collected evidence. The accused was arrested and he confessed to his crime.

Minor killed: A two-year old baby girl was killed and her father sustained bullet injuries in a crossfire between two rival groups in Sandha police limits here on Monday.

89 held: Lahore Police (Sadar Division) in its crackdown arrested 89 criminals and recovered 14 pistols, bullets, more than 6kg Charas and 165 bottles of liquor. SP Sadar Division Syed Ali had directed DSPs and SHOs concerned to take strict action against criminal gangs. Sadar Division Police busted four gangs and arrested its nine members and recovered more than Rs2 million from them. Police Station Nawab Town arrested Rafaqat alias Faqi in Bike Theft Gang and arrested its two members recovering 16 bikes and Rs50,000 cash from them.

Police Station Chuhng arrested Niaz alias Naji Gang along with its two members, recovering three mobile phones, Rs10,000 and two pistols. Police recovered Rs200,000 from the criminals in its successful action against gamblers.

Moreover, 49 proclaimed offenders of A&B categories in cases of kidnapping, theft, cheque dishonour, fraud and other crimes were arrested. Sadar Division Police also arrested 27 criminals for violating Kite-Flying, One Wheeling and Rental Acts.

OPC MEETING: Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab Vice-Chairperson Ch Waseem Akhtar held an exclusive meeting with Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Syed Zulfi Bukhari here Monday and discussed the ways for early and efficient redress of grievances of overseas Pakistanis.

A mutual consensus and concrete efforts for the resolution of different sort of problems being faced by Overseas Pakistanis were also discussed in the meeting by the collaboration of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) as well as Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will also be signed in near future. “The pending cases of Overseas Pakistanis in various civil courts will also be solved out by devising a fast-track mechanism”, he added.

Zulfi Bukhari lauded the remarkable efforts of OPC Vice-Chairperson Ch Waseem Akhtar and his team and assured his services and goodwill for OPC.

Assumes charge: The Punjab government issued notification of Additional Charge of Director General Anti-Corruption to Additional IGP Establishment Punjab Syed Ejaz Hussain Shah and after assuming charge he has started working on his new assignment.

Syed Ejaz Hussain Shah is a PhD scholar and known as industrious and intelligent officer among other officers of Punjab Police. He got his PhD degree in criminology from Pennsylvania University on Fulbright scholarship. He served as Additional IGP in Punjab for two years.

He started his career as an ASP in 1986 and during his career he served in KP, Islamabad and various districts of Punjab, Lahore, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Multan. He served as Deputy Director FIA, Joint Director Civil Services Academy and in Motorway Police.

After promotion as DIG in 2010, he served in CTD Punjab, Establishment Division Islamabad and National School of Public policy. He got promoted as Additional IGP in 2017 and served as Additional IGP D&I whereas in October 2018 he was posted as Additional IGP Establishment Punjab.

Accidents: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 726 road traffic accidents in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, seven people died, whereas 827 injured. Out of the injured, 502 were seriously injured requiring shifting to different hospitals. Whereas, 325 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
