Islamabad : The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Capital Administration (ICT) in collaboration with the Environment Wing of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) launched the spring tree plantation campaign Wednesday.

In the first phase launched in sector E-10 the officers and officials from the CDA, the ICT as well as from the MCI planted 3,500 chir pine trees.

The Chairman of the Authority, Amir Ali Ahmed, who also is the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, while talking to ‘The News’ said that the activity is initiated in connection with country-wide ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ campaign.

The government has announced to plant 150 million saplings of suitable species under the ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ all over the country in the year 2019. “The main objective of this activity is to contribute share of the Federal Capital in making Pakistan ‘Clean and Green’,” the CDA Chairman said.

“As this is the most suitable season for tree plantation and the survival rate of the saplings planted over the next two weeks has always been very high, that is why the CDA and the ICT administration as well as the MCI have decided to make the best out of the opportunity,” Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed said.
