UNFPA official calls on minister
LAHORE: Country representative of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Lina Mousa calls on Punjab Minister for Population Welfare Hashim Dogar here on Monday.
Technical Specialist, UNFPA, Dr Shoaib Ahmed Shahzad accompanied her. Population and Developmental issues and contributing role of UNFPA were discussed in the meeting. The minister appreciated the role of UNFPA with reference to population in Punjab. Both Population Welfare Department and UNFPA agreed to provide support to each other for population programmes in Punjab. Speaking on the occasion, Population Welfare minister said increasing population is the most important issue these days and is included in the priorities of the Punjab government. The minister said if solid steps are not taken to control population, Pakistan would face more severe challenges in future.
