NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Monday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has also complaints against irregularities, mismanagement at some polling stations and the party would approach the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for that.
Expressing grief over the killings and violence in the local government elections, he said that the provincial government had suggested to the ECP to organize the polls under the supervision of judiciary and army but it didn’t do so.
“The situation would have been different had the ECP accepted our suggestion,” he said while talking to the party workers at his residence in Manki Sharif here on Monday. The chief Minister said that the police and other law enforcers were at the disposal of the ECP in the polls. “But the ECP failed to maintain law and order in the polls,” he added.
He blamed the ECP for mismanagement, violence and chaos in the local government elections. The chief minister said that the success of the candidates of the PTI in the local government elections by a huge margin was the demonstration of public trust in the performance of the provincial government. “The people endorsed our agenda of change by voting for the PTI candidates,” he added.
Pervez Khattk said to empower the man at the grassroots level was the vision of the PTI chief Imran Khan and top priority of the PTI. He said the PTI government had fulfilled its responsibility by holding the local government polls.
Denying any role in the filing of a FIR and arrest of ANP leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain, he said that he had nothing to do with this case.He said the PTI government didn’t believe in the victimisation of political rivals. He said that the relatives of the deceased in the firing incident had nominated Mian Iftikhar in the FIR.He said the police force was apolitical and all people were treated equally in the province.
