Businessman shot dead in Liaquatabad
Another target killing incident occurred in District Central’s Liaquatabad area where outlaws gunned down a businessman in broad daylight.
Naeemuddin died and another man, Asghar, was injured in the attack that took place in the afternoon near Karim Oil Depot in a furniture market in the Super Market police remit.
Wajahat Hussain, sub divisional police officer (SDPO) of Gulbahar Division, said Naeemuddin was a resident of Liaquatabad No-4 and owned some shops, including an oil depot in the furniture market.
The victim was heading home when, a few yards from one of his shops, two men, one of them wearing a helmet, appeared on a motorcycle and shot and injured him and passerby Asghar before fleeing from the scene.
The injured were immediately moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where Naeemuddin succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased had suffered bullet wounds to his head and face. The attackers used a 9mm pistol in the offence and three spent bullet shells were found at the crime scene. The shells were sent to the forensic division of the Sindh police.
Investigators said that apparently it was a target killing but they would investigate the murder from other angles.
The victim also owned wedding lawns and furniture showrooms. He had been formerly associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) but had left the party many years.
