Rs4.8m transferred from state-run TV accounts
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said on Friday that the transfer of money from state-run television’s accounts warrants the Criminal Procedure Code. The federal minister wrote a letter to the Inspector General of Police, Islamabad, on Friday, asking for the investigation details of Rs4.8 million transfer from the state TV’s accounts.
“This case can entitle CPC… the matter should be decided on the basis of merit through investigation,” he said. Geo News obtained the copy of the letter and illegal transaction receipts, as per which two suspicious cheques of Rs3.1 million and Rs1.7 million were cashed. The letter was written upon the complaint of state-run TV employees. It is important to mention that Fawad Chaudhry had raised concerns over the performance of the state TV’s Board of Governors and even fell out with PTI leader Naeemul Haq, when he made a statement in favour of the state-run TV.
