Two more die of swine flu at BVH

BAHAWALPUR: Two more patients of swine flu died at Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) here on Thursday.

According to focal person for the swine flu virus Dr M Aslam, 40 years Murid Hussain, 40, and his mother Haleema Bibi died due to swine flu. They admitted to the BVH Isolation Ward three days ago and were H1N1 positive. Two more patients of the disease had been discharged upon recovery and now no patient of the seasonal influenza is at the BVH. It is worth mentioning here that three patients had become the victim of swine flu during the last three days, including Thursday’s victim.

Int’l conference: The second edition of International Conference on Teaching and Learning began here at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) on Thursday.

As many as 150 delegates, including scholars from Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Belarus and from various universities of Pakistan, are participating in the two-day event. The conference aims at providing a multinational platform to discuss the latest trends in education. IUB Vice-Chancellor Engineer Prof Dr Aamir Ijaz said that we need to adopt modern teaching methods and promote excellence in research to complete at the international level. For this purpose, the education sector should be put on top regarding the allocation of funds as the education is the only way to progress and prosperity.

“The IUB is the leading institute of higher education in the region. The university has ranked high in teaching and research. It continuously organises national and international conferences and seminars to acquaint the students with the latest trends in their fields,” he added.
