Cold, dry weather in most parts expected

LAHORE: Met officials have said that a westerly wave is affecting northern parts of the country and likely to move eastwards during next 12 hours. They predicted that mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain/thunderstorm (with snowfall over hills) is expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas.

Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Narowal 98, Murree 73, Sialkot 55 Jhelum 52, Hafizabad, Mangla 48, Gujranwala 39, Lahore 37, Islamabad (ZP 34, Saidpur 29, Golrha 28, AP 27, Bokra 24), Faisalabad 33, Sahiwal 32, Gujrat 30, Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 28, Chaklala 27), Okara 28, Rahimyar Khan, Kasur 24, Khanewal 23, Toba Tek Singh 22, Kamra 21, Mianwali 19, Jhang 18, Multan 17, Chakwal 12, Mandi Bahauddin 10, Khanpur, Kot Addu 08, Sargodha 06, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan 05, Noorpur Thal 04, Bahawalnager 03, Layyah 01, Rawalakot 70, Garhi Dupatta 50, Kotli 42, Muzaffarabad 36, Quetta, Turbat 18, Ziarat 11, Barkhan 09, Lasbella 05, Sibbi, Zhob 04, Kakul 47, Mirkhani 42, Balakot 41, Kalam, Dir 28, Saidu Sharif 27, Pattan 25, Chitral 24, Cherat 23, Risalpur 21, Peshawar 20, Drosh 16, Kohat 14, Malam Jabba 13, Parachinar 12, Bannu, DI Khan 02, Shaheed Benazirabad 24, Padidan 23, Sukkur 11, Larkana, Jacobabad, Sakrand 07, Mohen-jo-Daro 02, Skardu 31, Astore 30, Chillas 18, Gupis 09, Gilgit 04, Bunji 03 and Bagrote 01 while snowfall was recorded at Kalam 14, Astore 06, Skardu 05, Malam Jabba, Chitral, Gupis, Ziarat 04, Drosh 03, Dir 02 and Mirkhani 01.

Met officials said that Thursday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Parachinar where mercury dropped down to -06°C while in Lahore, it was 12.2°C and maximum was 20.3°C. Meanwhile, Wasa, city district government and other agencies worked all the day to drain stagnant rainwater from low-lying areas. Lahore DCand Wasa MD visited the city along with their teams and took immediate measures.
