Saggian Bridge closed to heavy traffic

LAHORE: Saggian Ravi Bridge on Wednesday remained closed for heavy traffic due to the patch work. The traffic coming from outside Lahore and exiting the city was plying two-way.

CTO said the load of traffic would increase due to the one side closure of the bridge. Traffic police have been maintaining the flow of traffic on alternative routes. Traffic bylaws : SP Traffic Sardar Asif Khan briefed the Army officers about Rasta app, e-challaning, licensing, monitoring, service infrastructure and road safety.

He said over 56 lakh vehicles were registered in Lahore and city traffic police were maintaining flow of traffic. He said strict implementation of traffic bylaws have resulted into reduction of traffic accidents. He also claimed the incidents of head injury have also been controlled by 80 per cent.

accidents: The Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 responded to 813 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Ten people died and 940 suffered injuries in the road accidents. Out of the injured, 559 were seriously injured victims were removed to hospitals while 381 victims with minor injuries were given first aid by the rescue medical teams.

Ceremony: A ceremony was organised by the civil service alumni at Civil Service Academy here. More than 300 under-training officers and faculty members attended the event. Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Amjad Javed Saleemi was the chief guest of the ceremony chaired by Civil Service Academy Director General Sohail Amir.

The IG said the people associated with civil service were chosen by Almighty Allah to serve the public of the country so they should serve the people honestly and efficiently.

The CEO of a bank announced donation of medicines worth Rs 0.5 million to Punjab Police Dispensary and announced provision of required medicines to Civil Service Academy dispensary on a monthly basis. The IG said that welfare of Punjab Police officials was among his top priorities.
