LLP participates in HNPW to address humanitarian issues
KARACHI: Leisure Leagues Pakistan (LLP) was amongst experts from diverse organisations and countries to identify solutions to common humanitarian challenges as part of the Private Sector Partnerships programme at the Humanitarian Networking and Partnerships Week (HNPW) in Geneva.
According to an LLP media release, the aim of the event was to bring together humanitarian clusters, the private sector and other partners and to take stock of evolving partnership approaches as well as share good practices and lessons learnt.
HNPW is held every February at the International Conference Centre in Geneva and hosted by the Swiss government and organised by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
LLP’s Global Director of Partnerships and Social Impact Zubair Anwar Bawany, one of the experts at the Geneva event, highlighted the strategic role the private sector now has to play and the role of sports-4-development in providing some innovative solutions.
Chairman World Group Mehmood Trunkwala commented that the vision of improving lives through football lies at the core of promotion of humanitarian agenda in terms of engaging with communities.
“In adopting the UN’s SDGs we came to understand that advancing women’s rights and building fair livelihoods are effective ways to end poverty and that’s something that we subscribe to.”
