PESHAWAR: Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) has urged the Education Department, Directorate of Curriculum and KP Textbook Board to include topics on water and sanitation in syllabus from primary to higher secondary school.
Chief Executive Officer Zafar Ali Shah also convened a meeting of the Education Department, Directorate of Curriculum and KP Textbook Board officials next week to this effect, said a press release.
He said that the government should inculcate the importance of water and sanitation in children.
The official urged the ulema and teachers to play their role and create awareness among their students on water and sanitation.
Taking notice of complaints, he paid a surprise visit to state land in Tajabad locality that was turned into a dumping ground by locals as well as hospitals in Hayatabad and surroundings. The ground was a constant source of nuisance for the residents in surrounding areas.
An employee of Khyber Teaching Hospital was arrested for dumping hospital waste on the ground. He directed the WSSP operation staff to clear the ground of garbage in collaboration with the Peshawar Development Authority.
The WSSP chief held a meeting with the PDA officials and suggested to them to turn the ground into a park which was accepted.
