LAHORE: On the direction of LWMC Managing Director Khalid Nazir, operations team took immediate action and cleared prime commercial land in Johar Town from tons of waste.
LWMC MD took notice of a news published in Daily The News dated 19th February, 2019 in which it was pointed out that Johar Town’s prime commercial area has become a dumping ground of waste.
Officials said that compliance was made by the operations department and respective machinery and manpower were deputed to remove solid waste from the location. Spokesperson for LWMC Jamil Khawar stated that highlighted commercial area of Johar Town required a combined operation of different departments, including district administration, MCL, TMA and LDA to permanently fix the issue. Meanwhile, LWMC has removed more than 1,500 ton waste from 580 open places and plots. Machinery along with workers was specifically deployed to clean & re-clean such points identified by LWMC monitoring team. Wagah Town, Nishtar Town, Ravi Town, Johar Town, Band Par Area, Sabzazar, Fateh Garh, Chungi Amar Sidhu, Sitara Colony, Kahna, Rasheedpura, Peer Naseer Village, Afshaan Park and Shahdara are the areas where open dumping of waste in such a way is usually found. In parallel to the special plot clearance operation LWMC is also engaging team to take prompt actions against all those involved in illegal dumping.
