MBS to help defuse Pak-India tension: KSA ambassador

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman (MBS) who is in New Delhi, will play a role in reducing the Pakistan-India tensions since the settlement of disputes through peaceful means paves the way for development and prosperity of the people. The Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Maliki said this while talking exclusively to The News/Jang here.

The Saudi envoy who had worked hard to make the crown prince’s visit possible and its successful conduct, said Pakistan-India ties were going through an extremely difficult patch. “It could be difficult to predict the future course of ties but the crown prince is a man of peace and he will make relentless efforts for creating an atmosphere where the two neighbours could co-exist peacefully and their people could live happily,” Al-Maliki said. He expressed the hope that better sense would ultimately prevail and hard work for cooling off the tensions between Pakistan and India would bear fruit. Al-Maliki who had been burning midnight oil for the visit of Crown Prince and received laurels from the Royal dignitary for his untiring work, said he had been working on the trip for one year day and night. He said the Saudi investment for Pakistan will start soon, and all the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) will be translated into action. “It’s the fine-tuning that makes difference between a MoU and final agreement.” He hoped that every word of the MOUs will be fulfilled. The first phase has been announced by the crown prince and the investments will be in place shortly, while the second phase will start immediately upon the conclusion of the first phase,” he added. He said relevant companies and institutions will initiate their work without delay.

The Supreme Coordination Council under Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman and Prime Minister Imran Khan will keep an eye on the pace of implementation of the agreements. He said the council will ensure that no delay should come in the way of the gigantic work.
