The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted moderate rain with thunderstorm from Tuesday night till Thursday morning in different areas of the city.
“We are expecting more than 10 millimeters of rain in different areas of Karachi from Tuesday midnight till Thursday morning,” Director Met Office Abdul Rasheed told The News.
He said rain was expected in upper Sindh and in the catchment area of the Hub Dam. “Rain in the coming 24 to 36 hours is expected to bring joy to the people of drought-hit areas as good showers are expected in the catchment areas of the Hub Dam as well as upper Sindh, especially cities and districts adjacent to Balochistan,” the director added.
According to the winter rainfall update issued by the Met Office, Sindh received more rain than normal as compared to previous years, and the expected rain would help ease the drought-like situation in many areas of the province.
On the other hand, Balochistan remained the only province that received less rain than normal during the first 49 days of the current year.
