Operation against encroachments on the cards in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: Commissioner Waqas Ali Mehmood Monday said a grand operation against encroachments would be launched soon.

Presiding over a road engineering committee meeting, the commissioner said no case of parking plazas would be approved without provision suitable parking. Deputy Commissioner Naila Baqar, CPO Moeen Masood, chairman GDA Sheikh Amir Rehman, CTO Ghulam Abbas Tarrar and other officers were also present in the meeting.

The commissioner said a short term and long term planning was underway for the beautification of GT Road while remodeling at Niggar Chowk was also under process for the purpose. He asked departments concerned to enhance mutual cooperation to complete development work according to the given plan. The commissioner also directed the CTO to prepare mechanism for stream lining the slow moving traffic on the GT Road.

26 POWER THIEVES BOOKED: Gepco surveillance teams found 26 people stealing electricity during the last two days. Chief Executive Gepco Mohsin Raza Khan said the teams also carried out the duty of night checking throughout the region to discourage the power theft. He said on the report of Gepco authorities, the police had registered cases against the accused and also issued them detection bills to the tune of Rs one million.

ACE BOOKS FOUR ACCUSED: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) have registered cases against four accused involved in mega corruption case of development projects Gujrat. ACE Regional Director Sheikh Fareed told reporters that anti-corruption enquiry team in its probe found Khaliq Hussain, tehsil officers Muhammad Sajid Khan, Sheraz Ahmad and Gohar Rashid guilty and arrested them.

KILLER TARCED: Police Monday claimed to have traced the accused involved in the murder of a six-year-old child. Accused Salman confessed that he hanged to death his six years old nephew Qurban Ali over domestic issue and then buried her in the neighbor town Gondlanwala. Garjakh police have recovered the body and send it to the DHQ hospital.
