MINGORA: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said on Sunday his government was determined to develop the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was speaking at the foundation laying ceremony of “Khpal Kor Village,” an institution to be built for the orphans, at Mingora in the Swat district. The chief minister said the provincial government was working on war-footing to improve the standard of living of the citizens. “Every time I meet Prime Minister Imran Khan, he asks about the helpless people of the province and advises to start the new day by helping the needy people of the province,” he maintained, adding to help the orphans and helpless were the responsibility of every citizen. Mahmood Khan said the provincial government had already established shelter homes in Peshawar and would extend the same programme to every divisional headquarters of the province. He announced an amount of Rs5 million for the orphanage. The life is still very miserable in parts of the erstwhile Fata, he said, adding, the KP government was determined to develop the tribal districts. “There are many challenges being faced by the provincial government in the socioeconomic development of the tribal districts,” he added. The chief minister said the newly merged districts would be under focus in the coming years to carry out development.
