Commissioner, DC inaugurate special anti-polio campaign
FAISALABAD: Commissioner Asif Iqbal Chaudhry and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sardar Saifullah Dogar Saturday inaugurated the special anti-polio drive by administering anti-drops to children at Government General Hospital, Ghulam Muhammadabad.
On the occasion, the commissioner said the anti-polio drive in selective tehsils of the district was being carried out to wipe out the polio virus completely. He urged parents to get their children vaccinated during the drive.
He said although the Faisalabad district had been declared polio-free but the objectives of repeated polio campaign was to eradicate the
chances of polio virus completely keeping in view the movement of children from other areas to Faisalabad.
According to detail, some 0.781 million children under five year of age would be administered the vaccine in tehsils City and Sadr of the district from February 18 to 20.
Additional two days would be observed as sweeping days for administering anti-polio drops to leftover children.
CEO Health Dr Mushtaq Sipra, DHO Dr M Asif Shahzad, Medical Superintendent Dr Abbas Chaudhry Dr Bilal Ahmad and other doctors were also present on the occasion.
The DC directed the health authority officers for effective monitoring of the campaign to achieve 100 percent target.
He said no negligence on the part of the anti-polio teams would be tolerated during the Sub National Immunisation Days (SNIDs), saying he himself would monitor the drive daily.
Giving details about the drive arrangements, DHO Dr M Asif Shehzad said 1,854 polio teams would remain active in the areas of the tehsils.
He said 312 area in-charges and 166 monitoring officers had been assigned duties to supervise the campaign for achieving desired targets. He said 220 teams of health department had been deployed at different points while 1,524 mobile teams would visit door to door for administering anti-polio drops to children at their homes and schools.
He said 110 transit teams would also perform duty.
ILLEGAL PETROL STATIONS: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sardar Saifullah Dogar Saturday constituted a district-level Task Force to initiate action against illegal petroleum agencies/petrol stations and LPG decanting shops.
According to the notification ADCG would be convener of the Task Force and representatives of field officials of District Officer Industries, Civil Defence, Deputy Director Environment, Enforcement Inspector of Municipal Corporation and Enforcement Inspector of District Council would be the member of the Task Force.
The DC said illegal petroleum agencies/petrol stations and illegal LPG decanting shops were causing loss to national exchequer and endangering human life and properties. The DC said the Task Force would be empowered to take action against mushroom growth of illegal petroleum agencies/mini petrol stations and illegal LPG decanting shops.
He said relevant enforcement inspectors of MCF and District Council would seal illegal shops and other departments.
The DC asked the convener of the Task Force to review the performance of the task force on fortnightly basis.
