State-owned enterprises

Every now and then, we express our concerns over the losses accumulated by state-owned enterprises (SOEs). These losses have now touched the figure of Rs1.3 trillion. It is appalling that the authorities haven’t taken any concrete steps to rectify the situation.

Despite the losses, these enterprises are paying lucrative perks and allowances to their executives. There is a need to get rid of old-fashioned procedures and use technology for ensuring more efficient and cost effective public institutions.
