RAWALPINDI: The Special Customs Court (SCC) Rawalpindi Judge Arshad Hussain on Friday showed strong anger as the supermodel once again failed to appear in the court. The court issued ‘show cause’ notices to Ayan Ali’s guarantors and sought details of her assets in order to seize them.
The court also issued non-bailable arrest warrant of the supermodel and ordered to appear till March 9, 2019.
The lawyer of supermodel Ayan prayed to postpone proceedings of the currency smuggling case but the court rejected the request and said why accused was not able to come Pakistan when she could travel from Dubai to Oman.
The court once again warned that the supermodel will be declared a proclaimed offender if she failed to appear before the court in the next hearing.
In 2015, Ayan Ali was arrested at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Airport while boarding a flight to the United Arab Emirates carrying $506800 without the permission of the State Bank of Pakistan.
She was sent to jail and the government put her name on the Exit Control List (ECL). But she subsequently left for Dubai after she was released on bail and a court ordered removal of her name from the ECL.
