MANSEHRA: The people in Lower Kohistan on Friday protested lack of education facilities.
“The Government Degree College has been functioning merely in documents and female teachers have been getting salaries without performing duty in schools,” Maulana Rahimdad told the protesters in Pattan, the district headquarters of Lower Kohistan. The protesters, who assembled at Sarbun Chowk, raised slogans in support of their demands. “We would block the Karakoram Highway to traffic for an indefinite period if the government doesn’t meet our demands,” he said. Maulana Rahimdad said that as there was no faculty at the degree college, it was compelling students to move to Mansehra, Abbottabad and other parts of the country to receive education. “The govt is not paying any heed to our demands as we have been facing prolonged and unscheduled loadshedding but the Pesco is doing nothing except sending us inflated utility bills,” said Maulana Rahimdad.
