LAHORE: Two healthcare centres operated by quacks have been sealed under the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) Act, 2010, by the city district government.
According to a press release issued on Thursday, Sheikh Shabbir Surgical Hospital and Maternity Home and Hafiz Hospital and Zacha Bacha Centre located at Purana Kahana, Ferozepur Road were sealed.
An unqualified practitioner was treating patients in the hospital and an unqualified lady health visitor was working in the centre. Similarly, Al-Madina Dental Clinic at Chah Miran, Kot Khawaja Saeed, was also sealed by Shalamar DDOH when it was found that the proprietor was pretending to be a dentist without any formal qualification.
Action has been takenagainst 1,442 quacks in 23 districts under the directives of the Punjab Healthcare Commission and around 430 establishments of quacks have been sealed. FIRs have also been registered against around 70 fraudulent practitioners.
