ISLAMABAD: Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Sirajul Haq has felicitated the nation on the national consensus achieved on the China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and said this was a happy augury for the national development.
He was talking to the media outside the Parliament after attending the APC convened by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the issue.Sirajul Haq stressed that the multi-million project should be completed in a manner that it benefited the entire country. He said that if China could link its eight backward and poor provinces with the economic corridor for their rapid development, there was no reason why we could not do that. He stressed upon the federal government to avail this rare opportunity for speeding up the development of economically backward areas by linking these with the economic corridor.
Sirajul Haq said that Fata was most backward and neglected area and the people there were deprived of even the basic facilities, therefore, it should be linked with the project. Besides, he said that along with the present route of the corridor, an alternate route should be built connecting Hasan Abdal, Chitral and Gilgit to ensure the development of these areas, as well.
JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch and JI Parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Sahibzada Triqullah Khan were also present.
