PESHAWAR: The district administration on Thursday launched second round of anti-encroachment drive in the provincial capital and demolished a major portion of Gulbahar Police Station and a plaza.
A deadline was issued to a number of persons to either remove encroachments before 12 noon on Friday or face action. Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar Riaz Khan Mahsud supervised the drive against encroachments. He remained present on the spot to avoid any untoward situation.
The district administration had earlier informed senior police officials and the provincial government about the police station built on encroached land.An official of the district administration said 27 feet portion of the police station was demolished.
He said heavy machinery was used to demolish the police station and a plaza in Gul Bahar locality of the city.When some of the people witnessed heavy machinery demolishing the police station and a plaza, they approached the district administration and wished to remove encroachments if given time.
The administration gave them a deadline of 12 O’clock on Friday. Also, the district administration gave last deadline to the police stations of Yakatoot, Shah Qabool, Khan Raziq and Pishtakhara to remove sand bags from main roads before Friday otherwise, the administration would take action to remove these hurdles from roads and streets.
Besides this, the district administration announced to start operation against encroachments on the Charsadda Road, Warsak Road and Phandu Road on Monday. The start would be taken from the government properties.
