An FIA team conducted a raid on Thursday at Sheikh and Sons prize bond Al-Madina Road Township and arrested a man involved in an illegal business of currency exchange.
The man was identified as Sheikh Muhammad Usman. The FIA team recovered Rs 160,850, $100, Saudi Riyal 623, UAE Durham 280, receipts, cheque books, etc. from the spot. A case was registered against the accused.
sealed: Two healthcare centres operated by quacks have been sealed under the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) Act, 2010, by the city district government.
According to a press release issued on Thursday, Sheikh Shabbir Surgical Hospital and Maternity Home and Hafiz Hospital and Zacha Bacha Centre located at Purana Kahana, Ferozepur Road were sealed. An unqualified practitioner was treating patients in the hospital and an unqualified lady health visitor was working in the centre. Similarly, Al-Madina Dental Clinic at Chah Miran, Kot Khawaja Saeed, was also sealed by Shalamar DDOH when it was found that the proprietor was pretending to be a dentist without any formal qualification.
Action has been taken against 1,442 quacks in 23 districts under the directives of the Punjab Healthcare Commission and around 430 establishments of quacks have been sealed. FIRs have also been registered against around 70 fraudulent practitioners.
Meanwhile, on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, crackdowns on those involved in selling substandard, unregistered, spurious and intoxicated medicines continues and Health Department teams sealed 17 medical stores in different areas of Lahore and substandard medicines and intoxicated injections worth lakhs of rupees were seized.
According to a handout issued on Thursday, Vice Chairman Chief Minister Taskforce on eradication of spurious drugs Kh Imran Nazir in a press statement said three medical stores in Gulberg Town, three in Ravi Town, two in Shalimar Town, four in Aziz Bhatti Town, three in Wahgah Town and two in Cantt area were sealed.
arrested: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Thursday claimed to have arrested a senior clerk of Board of Revenue (BoR) Punjab for taking Rs80,000 bribe.
According to an ACE official, the official was identified as Makhdoom Ahmed. He said the accused accepted the bribe from complainant Mian Tariq Javed.
