Pilots survive as PAF aircraft crashes in Swabi

SWABI: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) training aircraft crashed in the Shahmansoor village here on Monday, said officials of the district administration.
No casualty was reported as the pilots ejected before the aircraft crashed in the fields of tobacco. Eyewitnesses said as the aircraft crashed, the wreckage caught fire immediately.
Officials said that soon after the incident, a PAF spokesperson confirmed that the two pilots had survived in the crash.The pilots, Faisal Irfan and Khawas Khan, parachuted near the Pothar Canal area.
They had taken off from Risalpur and were on their way back to Risalpur when the aircraft crashed.The police said the pilots were taken to the Shahmansoor Hospital Complex and they remained there for some time. Later, they were referred to the Combined Military Hospital, Peshawar.
It has been learnt that one of the pilots suffered a fracture in leg and the other sustained minor injuries but both were stable. They recalled that more than seven years ago, a similar training aircraft had crashed in Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, resulting in death of the sole pilot and another man who had come to the institute from Topi city to collect firewood.
