PM requested to launch more uplift projects in south Punjab: Rajwana

MULTAN: Punjab Governor Rafiq Rajwana paid rich tributes to the armed forces martyrs for sacrificing their lives to save the future of next generations as the country faced the terrorism menace, adding that the all parties’ conference summoned by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would produce positive results.
Addressing the Multan High Court Bar Association members and the office bearers of district and south bars of south Punjab on Monday, he said the government was very much keen to eliminate terrorism and putting the country back on the right track leading to economic development to bring more job opportunities around the country.
The China Pakistan Economic Corridor would bring more economic change in the country, he noted.Talking about Karachi operation, Rajwana said it would bring prosperity because Karachi was the economic hub of Pakistan, adding that economic development was impossible without peace in the city.
Rajwana said the prime minister and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were very much committed to end the sense of deprivation in south Punjab and his appointment as Governor was part of that commitment. A number of development projects were underway in the region and he had talked with Nawaz for more uplift ventures.
The governor assured the lawyers for resolution of their housing scheme issue and asked them locating government land with the help of district administration to establish the colony. He also awarded Rs 3 million to Multan High Court Bar Association (MHCBA).
Earlier, MHCBA president Syed Muhammad Gillani in his welcoming address thanked the governor and presented his demands, mentioning the housing scheme, permanent allotment of Punjab Highway Department building to MHCBA for the establishing parking and rest house for lawyers, installation of CCTV cameras for security purposes, permanent appointment of Punjab Board of Revenue Registry in Multan, permanent appointment of Service Tribunal Court and Banking Court’s Criminal Bench in Multan, allotment of at least two APV vans for lawyers’ pick and drop, permanent status to MHCBA dispensary as Basic Health Unit.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old dwarf Muhammad Tayyab also met the governor and demanded his registration in Guinness Book of World Record. He also requested Rajwana for his look after and to help earning his livelihood.
