2 dead in Pakpattan incidents

PAKPATTAN: Two persons were killed in separate incidents here on Saturday.
Farzana Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Jehangir of Chak Kanipur, had contracted marriage to accused Iftikhar some eight years ago. On the day of the incident, accused Iftikhar, his brother Ashfaq and their mother Zeenat Bibi allegedly tortured Farzana, which caused her death. In another incident, Abdullah Wattoo of Chak 11-EB was sleeping in the house of his uncle when some unknown accused entered the house and shot him dead. Police have registered cases.
7 INJURED: Seven persons were injured in four incidents here on Saturday.
Amanat Ali had contracted love marriage with the daughter of Mumtaz Ali. On the day of the incident, 10 accused including Mumtaz allegedly attacked and injured him. Accused Iftikhar allegedly injured Haider Ali of Chak 57-EB over a kids row. Four accused including Faqeer Muhammad entered the house of Abdul Rauf at Chak 55-EB and allegedly injured him, his son and daughter over a minor dispute. Accused Khizar Hayat and others allegedly injured Abdul Ghafoor and Sharif Ali over some issue. Police have registered cases.
9 HELD WITH WINE: Police on Saturday arrested nine bootleggers and recovered wine from them in separate incidents here.
The police arrested Fayyaz of Chak 20-EB with 20 litres wine, Ghulam Fareed of Mohallah Pir Kot with 3 litres wine, Arshad of College Chowk with 10 litres wine, Maqsood Ahmad of Chak Luqman Meeroka with 40 litres wine, Lal Khan of Chak Luqman Meeroka with 40 litres wine and Ghulam Mustafa of Chak 19-SP with 105 grams charas. Basharat of Ansari Chowk with 5 litres wine, Ghulam Rasool of Qaboola Town with 5 litres wine and Khizar Hayat of Chak 85-EB. Meanwhile, the police also arrested Shahid of Chowk Purana Thana with a pistol and Shahbaz of Chowk Purana Thana with a pistol and bullets. Police have registered separate cases.
MAN, NEPHEW ABDUCTED: A man and his nephew were abducted from Chak Purana Thana on Saturday.
Three accused including Shahid allegedly abducted Ghulam Qadir and his nephew Sajjad Hussain. Later, police recovered both the abductees from the custody of the abductors. Police have registered a case.
LAWYERS STRIKE: The District Bar Association Pakpattan and Tehsil Bar Association Arifwala members on Saturday observed a complete strike against the government for not issuing a notification of establishment of the Lahore High Court Bench in Sahiwal.
