240,000 kids vaccinated against polio in Bajaur

KHAR: Around 240,000 children were administered anti-polio drops as the three-day campaign concluded in Bajaur Agency on Friday, an official said. Talking to reporters, the Agency Surgeon Dr Zakir Hussain said that around 240,000 children were administered anti-polio drops in the three-day drive in Bajaur Agency.
“With the cooperation of the political administration, clerics, politicians and commoners of the region, the drive was completed successfully without any untoward situation,” he said, adding that 99 percent of the children in the history of Bajaur Agency were vaccinated.
He pointed out that about 2,000 children could not be vaccinated as they were not available at home during the drive. “These children would be administered polio drops under ‘Tracking the Missed Children’ Programme,” he said, adding that the programme would continue for a week.
