Islamabad: The International Islamic University (IIU), Islamabad, organised an evening with noted Islamic scholar Justice (r) Mufti Taqi Usmani on Friday.
Justice (r) Taqi Usmani delivered a lecture on contemporary world via-a-vis Islam and responsibilities of Islamic scholars.
“Islamic scholars have the responsibility to provide solutions of the current issues in light of Islamic teachings,” he said.
He said knowledge was beneficial when it was reflected in the life of those spreading it.
The Islamic scholar said Islamic teachings must be disseminated with a blend of contemporary requirements as a layman would be able to understand them in better way.
He said influence of exploitative system had drove people away from Islam’s message.
Taqi Usmani said he had strong bond with IIU since its establishment.
He said the university was set up to produce experts of Islamic knowledge who had a good view of contemporary situation.
The Islamic scholar said IIU was playing a commendable role by offering quality education integrated with teachings of Islam.
He said unfortunately, religion is confined to Islamic rituals, while its absence in politics, economics and society had resulted in several complexities.
Earlier, IIU Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai thanked Taqi Usmani for visiting the varsity for lecture and hoped that he would continue visiting the campus.
He praised Taqi Usmani for his services in the fields of Fiqh and Islamic economics.
IIU President Dr. Al-Draiweesh said thoughts of Taqi Usmani were a way to resolve issues faced by Muslim Ummah.
He said Islam must be brought in practical life. At the end, the IIU rector and president presented a university souvenir to Taqi Usmani.
