PESHAWAR: The Accountability Court on Thursday sentenced an accused to 16 years in rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs228,531,000 after the National Accountability Bureau proved charges of swindling people on the pretext of providing them vehicles at cheap rates.
The accountability court judge, Muhammad Asim, awarded the sentence to Salimat Khan after hearing arguments from both the sides. The NAB KP had arrested the accused for swindling people out of Rs195 million.
The NAB prosecutor argued that the accused car dealer had defrauded dozens by offering brand new vehicles significantly below the market rates. The NAB received a number of complaints from people about wrongful dealings and thus the authority started an investigation and arrested him. He said the accused was running a business under the name of Al-Faisal Motors in Kohat and Fatehjang, and head office in Islamabad.
