KARACHI: The Auditor General of Pakistan has found financial irregularities, misappropriation of government funds and corruption of 1 trillion, 29 billion and 74.3 million of rupees in the audit of financial year 2014-15 in 34 department of Sindh government.
The Sindh government also failed to recover 29 billion, 296.8 million rupees embezzled by the officials of different departments of Sindh government, which was pointed by Audit Department.
According to the official audit report (copy available with The News) of financial year 2014-15 submitted to Governor Sindh by Director General Audit Sindh, total funds amounting to 5 trillion, 59 billion, 33.2 million rupees of the Sindh government were audited and irregularities of 1 trillion, 29 billion and 74.3 million rupees were found, nearly 20% of the total.
The report says that the Sindh government was directed out to recover Rs29 billion, 296.8 million of the embezzled money but only Rs46.5 million were recovered.
According to the report financial irregularities and misappropriation of funds to the tuneof Rs3 billion, 858.1 million were found in Sindh education department, Rs3 billion, 848 million in Sindh Board of Revenue, Rs3 billion, 466.4 million in Sindh live stock and fisheries department, 189.6 million in finance department, Rs5 billion, 896 million in Sindh services and general administration department, Rs1 billion, 758 million in energy department, Rs710 million in health department, Rs437 million in Sindh works and services department and other department of Sindh Government.
Despite repeated calls and numerous text messages regarding the matter the Sindh information minister Sharjeel Memon chose not to respond for official version of the Sindh government.
