Pilot killed in Naltar copter crash laid to rest in Swabi

SWABI: Major Muhammad Faisal Waseem, who was killed in the May 8 helicopter crash in Naltar valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard with full military honours on Thursday.
He was one of the two pilots and a crewmember killed in the crash along with the ambassadors of Philippines and Norway and the wives of the Indonesian and Malaysian envoys.The leaders of various political parties and senior civil, army and air force officials were present at Faisal Waseem’s residence when his body was brought to his home in Chota Lahor town from Rawalpindi.
Major Faisal Waseem’s father Abdul Wakeel, brother Muhammad Nadeem Khan and the deceased’s wife along with their little daughter accompanied the body when it reached his residence in Mohallah Rana Garhi in Chota Lahor.
Army personnel received the coffin draped in the national flag and bedecked with wreaths. His relatives sobbed and prayed as they tried to catch a glimpse of Major Faisal Waseem’s body.Lt-Gen Hidayat-ur-Rehman, the corps commander Peshawar, also attended the funeral. A number of politicians turned up at the Namaz-i-Janaza.
Later, a contingent of the army presented salute at the grave. Major Faisal Waseem got married on November 24, 2013. He is survived by his widow and a daughter, Aleeza.
