LAHORE: Religious parties and organizations criticised federal minister for information and broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rasheed for allegedly delivering remarks against mosques and seminaries.
They observed a protest day on Friday across the country and held demonstrations and protest meetings. In Lahore a protest meeting at Jamia Ashrafia was addressed by Maulana Hafiz Fazle Raheem, Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (JUP) Punjab president Qari Zawwar Bahadur,
Prof Javed Awan, Rasheed Rizvi, Mufti Tasadduq Hussain and Maulana Ataur Rehman Naqshbandi.Similar protest rallies were held in Karachi and Islamabad. The protesters pledged to protect religious seminaries against any government action.
