A group of over 100 students and faculty members of FC College Lahore visited the Corps Headquarters Lahore Friday.
They were given a detailed briefing on state of operational readiness of Pakistan Army in defending the national frontiers. Commander Lahore Corps Lieutenant General Naweed Zaman welcomed the students and said that the youth was the hope and future of our country.
He said the sacrifices rendered by army in the fight against anti-state forces aimed at securing a brighter future for them. He urged the students to fully concentrate on their academic pursuits, as this was the best way to defeat the nefarious designs of anti-progressive forces.
The students appreciated the Army high command for introducing such an educative programme specifically for the youth to know their army even more intimately and applauded the dedicated services rendered by army in weeding out terrorism from the country.
The programme, ‘A Day Out with Army’ has been specifically introduced on the instructions of Chief of Army Staff to acquaint students with the routine functioning of Pakistan Army and its operational preparedness. The objective is also to instill even greater sense of patriotism, confidence and dedication towards the country in our youths.
The day-long itinerary included wreath laying ceremony and Dua at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. It was followed by a demonstration of combat capability of troops, visit to infantry and armour battalion, arms and equipment display, including small arms fire. The programme culminated at Ganda Singh Wala checkpoint. The students witnessed flag-lowering ceremony and were enthralled by the smart turn-out and immaculate drills by troops of Pakistan Rangers amidst highly charged crowd on both sides of the border.
The students evinced keen interest and demonstrated great enthusiasm throughout the visit, as it was a life time opportunity and experience provided to them. They applauded the state of morale, commitment and professional competence of Pakistan Army.
