Unified beat books launched to check crime

PUNJAB Police have launched unified beat books, which could also be simultaneously monitored by the IGP through Centralised Computer System (CCS) in his office.
As many as 3,600 beat books comprised of 150 pages have been provided to all beat officers across Punjab.
The beat officers concerned have started data entries after getting professional training in this regard. These beat books have seven different categories with 70 detailed instructions.
These categories included SOPs for the officers and beat book officers, patrolling in beats, preparation of lists of important buildings and criminals, police deployment, security of mosques, seminaries, churches and worship places of other minorities, security monitoring of important religious personalities and arrest of hardened criminals, police and court absconders and suspect persons of the beat. IGP Punjab can also monitor all entries on TV screen through a device installed in Centralised Computer System (CCS). Similarly, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs could do the same practice in their respective areas. This system enables them to address public complaints along with the smashing of the criminals of the beat. These officers were issued a code of conduct to get better results from these data entries. Code of conduct included that all officers by observing the law would not only interrogate the criminal cases but would also ensure the completion of timely challan of various cases. They will refrain from forcing the people for getting fake evidences/witnesses, and never lose their temper and try to monitor the criminal elements and the tenants involved in illegal activities in their respective beats.
