HAFIZABAD: A large number of teachers observed strike against the government for not implementing recommendations of the Pay and Pension Committee in the district on Tuesday.
The teachers under the banner of the Muttahida Mahaz Asatiza also staged a demonstration outside the press club.
The All Pakistan Clerks Association also participated in the demonstration after locking their offices. Addressing the protesters, teachers’ unions and Apca leaders said that the government employees had been facing a large number of problems due to the price hike. They criticised the government for not revising pay scales according to recommendations of the Pay and Pension Committee. They demanded the government revise pay scales and merge ad hoc allowances into basic pay of the employees in the coming budget.
Teachers’ leaders Muhammad Abu Bakar Alvi, Riaz Ahmad Tarar, Naseeruddin, Naseer Butt, Shabbir Muhammad Gujjar, Aqil Azad, Jafar Bajwa and Mian Ghulam Abbas Ansari and Apca leaders Bao Nasir Ameen and Nasrullah Hanjra addressed the protesters.
