NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak Saturday urged the federal government to try the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain under article 6 of the Constitution for asking support from a foreign spy agency and criticising the national security institution.
Talking to a delegation of newly elected members of the Cantonment Board, traders and party members here, the chief minister said that MQM chief had always violated the law of the land.
“Now the party chief has exceeded all the limits by asking support from the spy agency of India,” he added.
Pervez Khattak said that the MQM chief first passed derogatory remarks against the national security institutions and judiciary and later tendered an apology. He said the peace of the port city of Karachi was at stake due to MQM.
He said that all the religious and other political parties, including MQM and federal and provincial governments, had empowered the law enforcers under the National Action Plan (NAP) to take decisive action against terrorists across the country to restore peace.
“Now when the law enforcers are rounding up the militants affiliated with MQM its chief is making hue and cry,” he added.
He said that the police officer, Rao Anwaar, had presented evidence about the terrorists and MQM also accepted that one of the terrorists was its worker.
He said that the MQM chief Altaf Hussain criticised the armed forces, which cannot be forgiven.
He also demanded a full-fledged action against the other leaders of the MQM.
Expressing concern on the silence of the Sindh government on the issue, he said that the provincial government instead of taking action against MQM had removed the police officer who brought the truth to light.
He also urged the administration of private television networks to censor such speeches.
He said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) believed in freedom of media but media should have a code of conduct.
