CHARSADDA: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a suspected person in connection with the attack on Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Sherpao, sources said on Friday. The sources said that Abdul Salam, a resident of Bajaur Agency, was arrested from the area where the QWP leader was attacked a day earlier.
The sources said that Abdul Salam had shifted to the area from Bajaur and had links with the militants. The accused was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. However, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Charsadda Raza Muhammad Khan expressed his ignorance about the incident. He said that the police had found fingers of the suicide bomber. He said the police would arrest the accused and their handlers after getting fingerprints of the bomber.
The police had constituted a team comprising DSP Raza Muhammad Khan and DSP Abdur Rashid Marwat to probe the incident. A cop was killed and another sustained injuries when the suicide bomber blew himself up after he sustained injuries in an exchange of fire with the police in Turangzai.
