LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) President Dr. Raheeq Abbassi and Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur alleged that the Punjab government was not making public the report of the Judicial Commission on Model Town killings because of covering up its own guilt in the tragedy.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, they alleged that the Punjab chief minister was behind the illegal police action and it was the reason that the government was not forming a Joint Investigation Team to probe the case and unearth the facts. They said the government was harassing and victimising PAT workers by booking them in false cases, and warned the rulers to stop injustices.
They said PAT leaders refused to appear before the official investigating team on a principle and we stood by our decision. They asked how they could appear before that police which were responsible for the killing of their workers.
