An anti-corruption court (ACC) on Tuesday awarded five years’ imprisonment to five accused, including a woman absconder, in a case of property fraud.
Former land registrar Gulberg town, Dev Parkash, his assistant Imran, officials Afaq and Mohsin were found guilty of fraudulently registering a double storey house in the name of the accused woman, Hameeda, in April 2007.
According to public prosecutor, Mohammad Arif Sitai, the property located in Federal B Area, was originally owned by a man named Mirza who had given the power of attorney to the accused woman, his second wife.
However, after his death the power of attorney became invalid making his daughter, Khajista Buksh, the rightful owner of the property. Hameeda though got the land registered under her name by bribing the land officials.
