ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Federation to submit some additional documents with its appeal, filed against the judgment, delivered by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) removing terrorism charges against Mumtaz Qadri.
A two-member bench of the apex court decided to club it with the appeal filed by the federal government against the IHC verdict. On March 9, the IHC had dismissed the appeal of Mumtaz Qadri against the two sentences awarded by anti-terrorism court (ATC) in October 2011 for killing former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer.
The court, however, had set aside the conviction of Qadri under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) but upheld the death sentence under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code, meaning that Mumtaz Qadri is guilty of murder but not terrorism.
