PESHAWAR: Opposing the proposal to abolish about 1,000 Maktab schools staffed with one teacher each, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Monday ordered their merger into government primary schools.
He also ordered action against quacks, spurious drugs, price hike, absenteeism by teachers, health practitioners and sale of substandard edibles.
The chief minister was chairing a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review performance of district administrations of the province. Besides chief secretary, additional chief secretary, senior member Board of Revenue, administrative secretaries of concerned departments and all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners attended the meeting.
Pervez Khattak asked the authorities to award those workers and officials who performed well in achieving the goals of polio eradication campaign. He appreciated the endeavours of the officers of Reforms Implementation Cell of the chief secretary’s office for devising an effective electronic system for monitoring performance of district administrations.
