CHAKDARA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader survived an attempt on his life near Shawa village, official sources said on Sunday.They said that the PML-N provincial vice-president Farid Yousafzai was on way home when armed men opened fire at his car near Shawa village.“Farid Yousafzai remained unhurt in the attack,” a police official said.Talking to reporters, the PML-N leader said that he had received extortion calls from Afghanistan.He added that he had also survived an attempt on his life in Karachi. He said a first information report (FIR) had been registered against unknown persons.
Residents protest against teachers’ absenteeism

HANGU: The residents of Chamba Gul village Sundaystaged protest against the teachers’ absenteeism and asked the government to take action against them.Led by Hafiz Mir Rehman, the villagers including parents and students took out protest procession and blocked the Hangu-Kohat road for traffic. They chanted slogans against the officials of the Education Department and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)-led government. They asked the government to take action against the teachers of the Govt Primary School in Chamba Gul village.
Minor killed as shell hits house in Tirah

BARA: A minor girl was killed and another sustained injuries when a mortar shell fell on the house in Tirah valley of Khyber Agency, official and local sources said.The sources said the mortar shell, fired from an undisclosed location, landed on the house of Kamil Khan in Haider Kandao in Tirah valley.As a result, 11-year old Nazira was killed while another child, Nazeer, 10, sustained injuries.
