Almas Bibi, wife of Manzoor, eloped with her relative Muneer Ahmad after the registration of the case. The police continued efforts for four years to trace the missing persons. The police declared Muneer Ahmad as a proclaimed offender and announced a cash prize of Rs one lakh for his arrest.
In the long run, the police traced Muneer through the mobile phone data and arrested him from the tribal area and recovered Almas Bibi from his custody, who was living with him as his wife. During interrogation, Muneer confessed to killing Zahoor and burying his body in the sand. The police recovered the body from sand dunes with the help of the heavy machinery. The police also had registered another case on the complaint of Manzoor Hussain.
