KARACHI: Chairman Ansar Burney Trust International has said that even after evacuation of thousands of Pakistanis from Yemen and Libya, almost 700 are still stranded in Sirte in Libya and almost 15 to 20 Pakistanis are in the Sanaa Jail in Yemen.
In a press release on Friday, Burney said even in the worst, critical and collapsing circumstances recently, almost 100 Pakistanis have been evacuated from Sirte, Libya along with two dead bodies of Khurram Sajjad and Amir Sattar.
He said he once again made requests to PM, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, COAS, Chief of Naval Staff and Pakistan Embassy at Libya to help and assist Ansar Burney Trust to evacuate remaining Pakistanis from Sirte and Sanaa.
Meanwhile the Ansar Burney Trust suggested and advised travel advice to almost 700 Pakistanis still stranded in Sirte to leave Libya (if possible) on self help basis, utilising ‘Mitiga Airport’ at Tripoli which is still operative for commercial flights. Burney said Pak envoy to Libya Lt Gen (retd) Javed Zia has already assured the trust that Pakistan mission/ embassy in Tripoli will provide all possible facilitation in terms of travel documents where necessary.
