NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Friday said that his government was committed to conduct free and fair local government elections.
“Though Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf wanted the elections to be held under the supervision of judiciary, the Election Commission of Pakistan was conducting the elections and his government had no role in it. However, I assure all the parties that government machinery would not be used to influence the election results,” he told reporters in Aman Kot.
Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial joint secretary Zulfiqar Aziz along with his supporters announced joining the PTI on the occasion. Pervez Khattak hoped his party would make clean sweep in elections.
He said that there should be no ban on the ministers’ visit to the constituencies neither would the ongoing development projects be stopped. However, he agreed that no new project would be announced or promised during the election campaigns.
“The tripartite alliance cannot win the upcoming LG election as PTI government has the support of the people due to its merit-based polices and clean politics,” he claimed. He said development projects were being sold in the past, saying that those making propaganda against his government would face a humiliating defeat in the elections.
