GUJRANWALA: CIA police Friday arrested robbers who had snatched valuables from journalist Farhan Rashed Mir.
Talking to reporters, CIA SP Tahir Maqsood Chhina said the police arrested robbers identified as Tanvir, of Faisalabad, Hazoor, of Nankana Sahib, Baber and Blsharat, of Jaranwala, who had looted journalist Farhan Rashed Mir and barged into house of Nasir Khokhar, personal secretary to Federal Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan, on March 19 and took away cash and valuables.
The SP said police arrested accused Amjad Ghjaml, of Lalupur, who entered house of Sajjad Akhtar, a former employee of a sensitive agency, at Gakhar and murdered him.
He said the accused were traced and arrested by police team under CIA DSP Imran Abbas Chadha.
The SP said the police recovered looted things and five pistols from the accused and also arrested a proclaimed offender, who was wanted by police in a double murder case.
The SP said the accused have confessed to committing several other crimes. He said killer Amjad also confessed to killing a man during an armed dacoity at Daska last year.
