The Preston University has won first position in inter-university advertising competition ‘AdCon 15,’ says a press release.
The mega inter-university event was organised by Forman Christian (FC) University, Lahore recently. In all 12 teams from different universities of the country participated in ‘AdCon 15’. Eminent among the participating universities were Szabist University’ Karachi, University of Central Punjab, Lahore school of Economics, SKANS Lahore and Preston University’ Islamabad.
The ‘AdCon15’ was a 2-day event held at the campus of FC University Lahore. The first day of the competition comprised of activities including Ad Talk, Ad Debate and Ad Fun (Networking Lunch) where professionals representing national and multinational, companies and advertising agencies participated. The discussions held were enlightening and thought provoking. It emanated valuable information, relating to the field of advertising, beneficial for the students as well as all those in attendance at the event. It provided the students an excellent opportunity to develop a sound understanding of the extremely important world of advertising and communication.
The second day of the competition set aside exclusively for the competition. ‘AdCon 2015’ comprised of two important competitions namely ‘AdVerts’ in which students of the competing teams were allocated renowned brands and they were expected to make a 60 second TV commercial and a print ad (for newspaper or magazine) of quarter / half page. The second and more important competition was ‘Ad Wars’ where the competing teams were allocated renowned brands and they were expected to come up with a comprehensive advertising campaign for the allotted brand including research, situation analysis, media strategy, creative strategy and advertisements.
The team of Preston University, comprising of Farkhonda Faizi, Sunil Jamil, Atif Ahmed Raja, Arooj Munawar and Sadaan Rasheed beat their counterparts from other universities out-and-out to win the first position in the competition. The team was exceptionally proficient in presenting their brand ‘Simply Sufi’, and it received tremendous applause from the members of the Jury who declared Preston University as champions. The Preston University team was awarded a cash prize of Rs10,000 and the trophy of the competition for its advertising project titled ‘Simply Sufi’.
