Scholarships for 133 orphans

Islamabad: Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf on Friday distributed shields and cash scholarships among talented orphan students at a ceremony organised by the Al Khidmat Foundation.
These talented students are studying in educational institutions established by the Al Khidmat Foundation under the ‘Aghosh Project’. As many as six educational centres are functioning in Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Attock, Bagh and Balakot.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Naib Amir Mian Muhammad Aslam, President Al Khidmat Foundation Pakistan Abdus Shakoor and President Al Khidmat Foundation Islamabad Hafiz Tanveer Ahmad also attended the ceremony.
In all, 133 students were given shields, schoolbags, books and scholarships of Rs1,000 per month.
Addressing the ceremony, Sardar Yousuf said the well-off people should come forward to help needy and poor masses, especially orphans. He lauded the services of Al Khidmat Foundation particularly after the 2005 earthquake.
He said the government was trying to establish ‘Nizam-e-Salat’ in Islamabad to have the same timings of ‘azans’ and prayers in all mosques of the federal capital.
He pointed out that the government would also bring about improvement in ‘Zakat’ and ‘Ushr’ system.
He said that complaints of pilgrims were addressed effectively during the last Haj season and the same arrangement would be implemented in future. Mian Muhammad Aslam said that the Al Khidmat Foundation’s services in the social sector have been earning appreciation from across the world.
President Al Khidmat Foundation Abdus Shakoor said that at present there are 4.2 million orphans in Pakistan out of whom 1.6 million children require help in meeting their educational needs.
