THE Lahore High Court on Friday directed Punjab Textbook Board (PTB) Chairman to decide within one month a representation of a lawyer about including Constitution chapter pertaining to fundamental rights of citizens in syllabus.
Justice Ayesha A Malik issued this order while disposing of a petition filed by Advocate Sheraz Zaka. The lawyer pleaded that the citizens were not aware of their fundamental rights protected by the Constitution. He said new generation should have complete knowledge of their rights; therefore, inclusion of the articles of the Constitution relating to basic rights in the syllabus was essential. The judge after hearing the arguments directed the board’s chairman to look into the matter and decide the same within a month.
